The Guest Book
Go ahead and read what our guests have to say about Casa Carmen:
“Having been annual guests at Casa Carmen for more than twenty years, we have come to consider Natalie Mooring and her excellent staff as members of our extended family. We love them all. The ideal central location, superior cuisine, comfort, genuine friendliness, and moderate price combine to make it our first recommendation to anyone planning a visit to San Miguel de Allende.”

“Breakfast and Lunch are a special happening as each guest has the opportunity to meet and get to know other people from all over the world.”

"Casa Carmen is an absolutely delightful experience. The building is impressive, the rooms are very comfortable, and the courtyard is beautiful. The food at the Casa is wonderful. Each day brings a different menu and opportunities to chat with and get to know the other guests.
We love being only two blocks from the Jardin in the colonial centre of San Miguel, close to all the fiestas, music and other activities that give the city its charm and vivid colours.
The most delightful part of Casa Carmen is you, Natalie, for bringing your charm and hospitality to all your guests. We always feel at home and are always sad to leave. Each time we come is better than the last.
Thank you Natalie for making our visits to the Casa so memorable and so special.
Congratulations on your 50th anniversary! See you again next year!"

"Casa Carmen is a wonderful place--the people, the food, the location, the patio, the rooms--everything is comfortable, pleasant, attractive, friendly, and welcoming. "Our first stay was for 10 days. Our second stay was for 3 weeks. We have signed up for a month for our third stay. Charming, small, 2 blocks from the center of town (The Jardin) and the food is outstanding. Natalie is a warm, caring hostess."

"This is our second time at Casa Carmen, and most of the other guests have been coming here for years. After one stay, you know why. The lovely 300 yr old hacienda-style inn was renovated 40 years ago, and Natalie and Horace have been running it as a B&B ever since. You are treated like family here!
The first level rooms surround a lovely center courtyard with a large spanish fountain surrounded by flowers. Rooms open to the arched porticos surrounding the courtyard, which is filled with chairs and tables for relaxing. Many followed our lead of using these areas for late afternoon wine and cheese, enjoying a relaxing end to the day.
The rooms are furnished with Mexican antiques, sometimes a little worn but charming. The second level rooms are accessed by a rooftop level, and have more basic furnishings. However, they have a private patio on the rooftop.
The warm hospitality extends to the meals. The large but cozy dining room has long and small tables, so you can choose to meet and greet others or have a more private meal. The hot breakfasts are chosen from a menu and cooked to order. The real surprise is the 3 course Comida (mid-afternoon full dinner), included in the price. We had some wonderful Mexican meals such as pork mole and chiles en nogada. They were quick to comply with special food preferences, and were always anxious to please.
For us, this was one of the most enjoyable stay we've had anywhere in Mexico. Casa Carmen seems to draw wonderful guests, which makes it even more memorable. We'll go back next year!"Lee

"We just returned from a 2 1/2 week tour of the colonial towns surrounding Mexico City. While we stayed in a number of lovely accomodations, Casa Carmen was by far the best value we encountered. From the intensely personal greeting by the sweet, cheerful and numerous staff to the delicious, filling, made-to-order breakfasts and lunches, we felt pampered and well cared for our entire visit. Our room was spacious, quiet and bug-free (thanks to screened windows, a rarity in Mexico, we later found.) The large pitcher of purified water, the accomodating breakfast schedule (8:30 to 10:30 but moved to 7:30 when we needed to meet an early bus) were all indicative of a lost way of travel, one that truly celebrates the traveler. We will return."
